Last night at Thursdays in Pella Aubrey got to perform with the Dans Co and the kids who went to dance camp with her.  She loved it and is definitely not afraid of being on the stage in front of people.  We learned last night that the reason The Dans Co is spelled that way is because dans is Dutch for dance!  Learn something new everyday!

35th Pella Bologna Nationals

This past Friday night and Saturday was the 35th anniversary of our car show in Pella.  The weather was great until we were serving the meal Saturday night at south overlook and the rain let loose.  It rained for a good hour but several people stuck it out and stayed for the door prizes and awards.  It was a fun weekend of bologna and cool hot rods!!

Aubrey - dance camp #1

Last week Aubrey attended her first dance camp.  It was three mornings from 9-10:50 at Central College put on by a new dance company starting up in town.  She had a great time and is still my little dancer!

Thursdays in Pella

Last week thursday we headed downtown for the car show/balloon festival themed night downtown.  The weather was great and the kids had fun running around with friends and playing games.

Good Guys 2014

This past weekend was the Good Guys car show at the Iowa State Fair grounds.  The kids and I went up Friday morning with my parents and enjoyed a beautiful day outside!  It was very busy since it was the 4th.  Lots of cars and people.  Jeremy came up after supper and we squished 7 people in my parent's fold down camper.  Saturday morning it rained quite a while.  It finally let up and we got ready for the day.  My dad was already down at the car show with the 38 and the rest of us drove down in the nash.  It ended up being a beautiful day again.  We went to Hilltop for supper and then back to the car show for the fireworks.  We listened to the band before the fireworks show and took our annual picture.  All of the chairs were taken so we had to take it standing up this year.  It was getting a little chilly so I made all the kids put on pants - that is pretty unusual for this car show, typically we are all sweating!  Sunday was my birthday.  After breakfast at McDonalds we got the camper packed up.  My dad and Hayden stayed for the car show til lunch while Jeremy, Nile, and Aubrey drove the nash home with Dallas.  My mom and I went shopping for a little while.  I had a few things to return/exchange and a few things to get.  We were able to get things done a lot faster since we didn't have the kiddos in tow!  My birthday ended with a terrible headache and a vow to never eat iceberg lettuce again!  All in all we had a fun weekend and are looking forward to our car show in Pella this weekend!  Please pray for no rain Friday night and Saturday!!

July - swimming

Yesterday was pretty warm so we decided to wait for Daddy to get home from work and head to the pool.  The kids had a blast and the water felt pretty good!
Nile and Daddy went down the tube slide and Aubrey and Daddy went down the family slide.  Hayden was busy going off the diving board.

When we got home from the pool supper was ready in the oven and the kiddos were starving.  We were a little behind on our devotions since we had been gone over the weekend so while we caught up on those the kids ate second and third and fourth helpings!  There were no leftovers for Jeremy to take to work for lunch the next day.  After supper and reading the kids watched America Ninja Warrior and they each had an ice cream cone and some more snacks!  I guess they really worked up an appetite with all that swimming!

Yesterday afternoon my mom, Aubrey, and I headed to the nail salon to get pedicures for my upcoming birthday.  I was Aubrey's first time getting to sit in a chair and put her toes in the "bubble bath".  She was super excited and loved it.  We all picked a different pink color and mom and I got a flower design.  It was fun and a great way to kick off the holiday weekend and my birthday. 

Hopefully tonight Jeremy and I will be going to the movies, a little birthday date.  Typically in the past Jeremy and I haven't done much for our birthdays and I decided this year we need to be more intentional and celebrate just like we do with the kids.  This weekend we will be in Des Moines at the Good Guys car show and we will all go to Hill Top on Saturday night for super and to celebrate my birthday with my family.  We have been going there on the Saturday of the car show every year since Aubrey was born.  I'm not sure what Sunday night will hold, my actual birthday, but I am sure it will be a great day with the people I love!
